Behind the Curtain of Releasing a Record

I was just checking out a picture of a maintenance guy from the 70’s who was on top of a 370 foot antenna which was anchored to the top of a a 1400 foot building.  It’s the kind of image that makes me feel a little uneasy just looking at it. But, to this guy he looked like he was right at home up there. No big deal.

The reason I mention this is that getting a band going and pushing to reach to the top can be intimidating too. I’m sure you’ve had to brave through some situations only to find in the moment that it was not as scary as you built it up to be.

I’ve got a new journey of my own that you may have read about: my new band Dead Soul Revival. Having been in a band (Freakhouse) with some success for the last 20 years I’ve got a game plan formulated.

What I’ve decided to do is take you on this journey with me. We’re still recording a few things and then of course I’ll be mixing. Next up will be marketing the band which will include things like getting new fans, press releases, interviews, and more.

My goal here is to pull back the curtain and let you have an unfiltered view of my mindset. I’ll cover the “why” and the “how” of what we’re doing so you can apply these ideas to your own band or project. I’ll be sharing the techniques and tools I’m using to obtain my desired results as well.

You’ll get to see what works and what doesn’t. Websites, Spotify, radio promotion, merch, you name it.

Probably my biggest challenge in this band is that not only am I playing guitar but I’m also handling lead vocals as well. That’s a first for me and I’ve been working my tail off for the last few years to make it possible.

If you haven’t already please go sign up for the Dead Soul Revival email list. This way you’ll be able to see exactly the kinds of emails I’ll be sending out to fans. This is going to give you a better perspective on the whole campaign and how you can use these ideas for your own releases. You can sign up at deadsoulrevival.com

Next week I’ll start getting down to the nitty gritty. I’m excited for you to share this journey with me. 🙂

Need More Fans or Clients? There’s still time to pick up your FREE copy of “Traffic Secrets”! This is an AWESOME book that I highly recommend. It has made a dramatic difference to my business. In case you don’t know, by ‘traffic’ I mean fans and customers coming to your band’s site, Facebook page, etc. Without it your message is heard by no one… and that’s not only frustrating but wasting your time. I’m sure you’ve worked too hard on your band or business to not be noticed. Don’t let your music go unheard.
